Technology company VenHub Global Inc. has partnered with Circa Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to introduce what both companies describe as the world’s most advanced autonomous smart store installation, marking an evolution in unattended retail within high-traffic leisure environments.

Set to launch later this spring, the installation is a 66-foot-long, fully autonomous retail environment composed of three integrated smart stores operating as one continuous unit.

Opened in 2020, Circa Resort & Casino is a modern, adults-only resort located in downtown Las Vegas on Fremont Street, known for blending vintage Vegas energy with high-tech amenities. The property features one of the largest sportsbooks in the world, along with its signature Stadium Swim complex, a multi-tiered pool amphitheater with a massive screen for live sports viewing.

“Las Vegas never sleeps, and that’s exactly the point,” VenHub Global CEO Shahan Ohanessian said in an email interview. “Circa understood that their guests need access 24/7, not convenience that clocks out at midnight,” he said. “It’s the perfect proving ground for what autonomous retail can deliver. Always open, always reliable, and built for high turnover without human friction.”

Rethinking the unattended retail model

At its core, the deployment is designed to eliminate traditional bottlenecks that have long plagued retail in busy venues. Guests can browse and purchase items ranging from snacks and beverages to travel essentials at any time of day, with transactions handled entirely through VenHub’s proprietary robotics and artificial intelligence platform.

It’s that robotic aspect that differentiates this deployment from previous unattended retail ventures.

“Earlier ‘smart’ concepts still relied on people,” Ohanessian said. “They let customers walk in and used cameras to track items, but infrastructure costs and staffing demands made scaling impossible.”

The VenHub concept has flipped that model. Instead, the smart store operates as a fully autonomous, staff-free retail unit powered by AI and robotics. Customers browse products through a mobile app or on-site interface, select items and complete payment digitally before the system processes the order.

Once an order is placed, robotic systems inside the unit automatically pick, sort and deliver the items to a secure pickup window within minutes. That design prevents the theft issues common with many “honor system” unattended retail concepts.

“Every item sits behind bulletproof glass and is released only after verified payment,” Ohanessian said. “Sensors and cameras run 24/7. You can’t steal what you can’t reach.”

VenHub’s system consolidates real-time inventory tracking, mobile-based purchasing, and robotic fulfillment into a closed loop that reduces labor demands while maintaining accuracy and speed. It also addresses a key challenge of operating in a 24/7 environment, such as Las Vegas, where demand fluctuates dramatically throughout the day and night: how to provide consistent service without having to constantly adjust staff.

For Circa, the move aligns with a broader strategy of positioning the property as a destination for next-generation experiences. Company officials emphasized the installation is not just a convenience upgrade but a curated attraction intended to enhance the overall guest journey. Although powered by VenHub’s technology, the stores will incorporate Circa’s branding.

“This is more than a retail concept; it is a one-of-a-kind attraction that brings together cutting-edge technology, convenience, and entertainment in a way that’s unique to Circa,” Derek Stevens, Circa Resort & Casino founder & CEO, said in a press release. “Just like Stadium Swim and The World’s Largest Sportsbook, this is about creating a true destination moment, and we’re excited to partner with VenHub to introduce something entirely new to Las Vegas.”

Technological advances offer scalability

Analysts say autonomous retail is expanding rapidly, with one report forecasting a compound annual growth rate topping 21% over the next several years, with the market reaching $95-105 billion by 2033.

Helping to fuel that is a combination of the convergence of digital transformation in retail, rising demand for frictionless shopping experiences, labor cost optimization and increasing investments in retail automation technologies.

“What’s interesting is that these stores aren’t just about convenience — they’re about redefining consumer expectations,” Spencer Hoffman, an entrepreneur, author and expert in digital business said in an email. “Once someone experiences a fully autonomous checkout, anything slower starts to feel outdated.”

Some of the forces enabling VenHub’s smart store design are technological advances that have occurred over the past few years. Robotics has hit precision levels that make fully autonomous sales practical, Ohanessian said, while AI learns from real‑time buying behavior.

The Circa stores’ robotic arms identify products with 99% accuracy. The automated system can queue and process multiple orders in real time, minimizing wait times.

“Every interaction, such as sales velocity, time-of-day patterns, product preferences, and anomalies feeds our analytics engine,” Ohanessian said. “That insight helps operators boost margins, cut waste and respond before demand even shifts.”

To help ensure uptime even in the event of a power or network outage, backup batteries can keep the stores online and local processing allows transactions to continue even if the network drops. Remote monitoring capabilities alert operators to potential issues.

Beyond the Circa installation, the underlying technology can be adapted to a wide range of venues, including airports, stadiums, college campuses and healthcare facilities.

A single VenHub Smart Store runs between $250,000 and $400,000 to deploy, compared to $750,000 to $1.5 million for a traditional convenience store build out. Add to that the cost of integrating the stores with VenHub’s cloud platform.

“The economics are compelling even before you account for the labor savings,” Ohanessian said. “And the deployment timeline is dramatically shorter; our stores can be installed and operational in days, not months.”

Travel hubs, campuses, healthcare facilities, entertainment venues and emergency deployment sites are all potential locations for VenHub’s smart stores. Enterprise partnerships are the company’s target market.

To support those planned partnerships, VenHub plans to open a second, significantly larger production and assembly facility in Las Vegas. The facility will operate in conjunction with VenHub’s headquarters and existing operations in that city, creating a production hub that will support its broader rollout efforts.

“We already have orders representing more than $300 million in potential revenue and over 1,000 units in line for deployment,” Ohanessian said.

“Expansion is underway across North America, the Middle East and Europe,” he said. “Retail is sprinting, and so are we.”
